President’s message regarding summer BBQ

Dear directors and members of VCLC,

I am writing to update you that we had a very joyful and exciting BBQ yesterday. We had a lot of fun! I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Menjou for going to the site early in the morning to secure a spot and setting up the tent for us. Besides, he also grilled the meat for hours. May had been spending weeks of time in calling people for different matters of the event. Without the diligent support of this wonderful couple, we could not have this successful event. They deserve a big applause from us.

I would like to thank Raymond for delivering the food, Jose for buying the super sweet watermelon, Miranda and Beatrice for planning the games and those who participated in this event that reflects our traditional motto “Work hard and play hard.”

The last but not the least, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Robert, who could not have sufficient time for food and games because he spent most of his time taking photos for us. Please find below a link for the photos. It’s also my honor to have the participation of Joyce, my good friend from Villa Cathay. It would be sincerity and passion for better lives that connect the members’ hearts of the two groups.

Thank you very much! I love you all

Vivian

Canadian Cancer Society Telethon 2017 set on April 8

The annual CCS Telethon is here! It is scheduled for Saturday April 8 from 11am to midnight! As usual, VCLC members and volunteers will man the phone center. We need a lot of people to cover different shifts to take as many pledge calls as we can. It is going to be exciting and fun.

Should you have any questions or are interested please contact any of our members or visit our Facebook page to join the event.

Fundraising event for Villa Cathay Care Home Society

A new project that VCLC takes on to help community in need. One of the best senior Chinese care home is needing funding for repair and renovation. On March 19, we started our first small step toward this meaningful cause.  Please see IPP Lion Dr Vivian Lo’s message to our members below.

“I am so pleased to report to you that we have raised $10,000 for Villa Cathay from the Fundraising Social held on Mar 19, 2017. There were more than 50 guests joining the event in which we had fundraising karaoke, MJ games  lucky draw and a Category Three sing/dance performance presented by Thomas and a friend of VC…

…I would like to thank Jocelyn for taking up the painstaking accounting job at the event, as without her, we could never have a successful event. I also thank May, Dr. Menjoy, Johnny, Thomas, Dr. Robert Loh, Dr.Joyce Ling, Kwo Wong who helped in various aspects and many friends who took part in the event and made generous donations for building a new home for the senior people. I also thank Lion Henry Tang for taking pictures for us. This truly reflects the beautiful rhythm of team work!

I am very proud of each of you! You are SUPERB!

Deepest thanks from the bottom of my heart!

Vivian”

During the event we also presented cheques to Greater Vancouver Foodbank and Richmond Foodbank. The money was raised in Summer during our Test Drive for Charity event.
