Fundraising for Vancouver Cambie Leos Club and Strathcona Community Dental Clinic

The evening features excellent Chinese dinning, raffle draws, Leos Performance and Karaoke fundraising.  Everyone is welcome to sing or pledge someone to sing.  Download Pledge Form.  Proceed of the evening with be donated to Vancouver Cambie Leos Club and Strathcona Community Dental Clinic – a non-profit clinic for children.

To be installed are the new Board of Directors for Vancouver Cambie Lions Club and Vancouver Cambie Leos Club.

Vancouver Cambie Leos Spelling Bee Contest on May 6th (Sunday)

Right around the corner on the calendar is our Spelling Bee Event!  Please see event chairperson Lion Dr Vivian Lo’s words below.

“Please be reminded that the Final of Spelling Bee 2012 will be held on Sunday, May 6 from 2pm to 5pm at the Aberdeen Centre. We will have great times then and please join us as far as possible … I request that you wear your uniform (brown blazer) if you come and we try to have an opportunity to take a group picture with the participants near the end of the event. It is a grand and enjoyable event every year.

FYI, we have raised app. $6100 (cost $1500) at this point and look forward to raising 1 to 2 more thousand dollars on the event day. Your support will certainly make a difference!”

So come and support our Leos this Sunday!

TV-Radio-Telethon for Canadian Cancer Society

Once again, Vancouver Cambie Lions together our Leos, families and friends made this meaningful event a successful one!  From morning to mid-night, thanks to the hardwork of all members, we managed the phone center perfectly.  Not to list all the names because it will be very long, but nevertheless, big thanks to all participating volunteers, we have raised over $90,000 forCCS that day alone!

Spring Conference Contest Result

Vancouver Cambie Lions has made excellent result again this year.  Of course we were all there for the fun of it mainly but it’s nice to top it with nice contest result.  Please see Chairperson President Elect Lion Clement’s thank you note.

Lion Miranda Kwan has won 5 Minutes Achievement 1st place!

We won runner-up for Musical Performance, Uniform Parade and Tall Tales!

We all had a nice time with a lot of fun.  Give ourselves a big pat on our backs.  We deserve it.  Big hug to ourselves for our club did good job in our community!”

Each winner and runner-up have been awarded a trophy and award certificate.  Result would be posted on 19A’s website too.

New Members Induction Night

On February 21st, 2012 (Tuesday).  In witness of many guests and fellow Lions including PCC Lion Polly, 1st VDG Lion Sheilla induct 5 new members for Vancouver Cambie Lions Club.  Fellowship and spirit of charity work is celebrated that night.  Thanks for the 3 sponsoring Lions: Lion Bonnie, 3rd VP Lion Elsie and President Lion Raymond’s hard work in promoting Lionism to the new members.  To see what they roar about, please visit members page.

Senior Home visitation

On February 4th, 2012 (Sat), our team of about a dozen members visited Villa Cathay Senior home in China town.  Thanks to the leadership of event chairperson 2nd VP Lion Clement, performers, all team members and volunteer, the seniors had enjoyed a wonderful and fun filled afternoon.  Every senior received gift and “Lei Si” (Red Envelop) as a Chinese New Year custom.

 

The 17th Anniversary and Christmas Dinner and Dance

220 happy Lions and friends celebrated the 17th Anniversary of Vancouver Cambie Lions Club in Radisson Hotel of Richmond.  Our special performing guests Michael Samson and Friends brought so much fun to the audience throughout the entire evening.

President Lion Raymond Wong sent a great contragulation message with 18 points and a long list of people to thank for.  It can be summarized by the 3 of the paragraphs he wrote.

“I got home almost 1:30 am last night, I was so excited that I could not go to sleep right away as I was keep refreshing our 17th Annivsary Party, another successful one.
The whole party was so perfect organised, I think the party was flawless. As the President and on behalf of VCLC, I like to thanks the following members for their achievement towards the party .

I am so much lucky and enjoy working with you all, Can’t ask for any better.All the best to you all and VCLC.”

Bowl for Big Brother … in costume!

Yes we did it again in Halloween.  It fits the season so well as the event is on October 30th and it is a Sunday!  Contragulation to Lion Dorothy who brought in the best pledge total, and PP Lion Johnny and LIon Elaine who have won costume prizes.  With new member Lion Dabby right on his tail, PP Johnny barely managed to keep his Highest Score Champianship title this year.  See photos to share our fun with those who didn’t make it to the game this year.
